So confused about flea drops for dogs?

I am looking at the K9 Advantix because it seems to protect against more things. However is there one called advantage too or is that the same thing?

I was looking at this from amazon

http://www.amazon.com/Advantix-Control-21-55-Pounds-Applications/dp/B000Q5N7B8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1277179409&sr=8-1

But then I didn’t understand why this says its the same product, but has a different box?

http://www.amazon.com/MONTH-K9-ADVANTIX-Blue-55lbs/dp/B000RI3I36/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1277179409&sr=8-3

Are they the same or what? Also my dogs are around 50-55 pounds and I am really not sure how much they weight. One is for 55 and under the other is for 55 and over which one should I get? I don’t want to over dose, but then again I don’t want it to not work. I am just really confused and need help picking out a treatment that works. They just got feas so I need something to kill them off and keep them away. I don’t want to spend on the wrong product or something that wont work.

Help!
For box one u can change the size, but its still a different box than box #2. Look on the right and you can click 4-6 doses and then you can change it from like 0-21 pounds, 21-55, 55 and up etc.

I just don’t want to buy an off brand copy of it or something. I want to know I am getting the correct one.

cockapoo with flea infestation?

I’ve NEVER had a flea problem with any of my "puppies" before. I adopted a cockapoo a couple of years ago and in the last months cant keep the fleas under control. She lives inside with no dogs around.I’ve tried "only natural pet" flea remedy, advantage, and flea collar. HELP! Do you know anything that works REALLY well for those ANNOYING fleas? Thanks!
Supposedly those are the names given to "designer" dogs. I don"t care too much about all that but its just much shorter. She’s a cocker spaniel and toy poodle mix. Thanks :=)

Is it necessary to apply topical flea & tick treatments during winter months?

We’ve had 2 hard freezes this week & in an attempt to save a little money I’m considering discontinuing my dogs flea & tick treatments until the weather warms up again. I use "Advantage Multi on them & I’m certain that the cold weather has temporarily eliminated the risk of fleas, ticks & heart worm; but they are walked twice daily in common areas where other dogs "relieve" themselves, & like all dogs they tend to sniff (never eat) what others leave behind (I pick up after my dogs, but not everyone else does.) Should I temporarily discontinue their treatments could this leave them at risk for picking up parasites (intestinal worms?) Their health & well being is more important than the money saving – but if the treatments are redundant during the winter months, then why not hold off until the weather starts to warm again? What do you think?
It’s not the fleas, ticks or heart worm (carried by mosquitoes) that concern me. The cold temperatures have taken care of that for the time being. It’s the possibility of intestinal parasites left behind by other dog feces. Will the cold kill them off too?

Is K9 Advantix dangerous to dogs??!?

I have a miniature pinscher of about 19 pounds. Our vet recommended K9 Advantix for flea control, so we applied a tube (for dogs 10-20lb.) to the skin in accordance with the labeling after we gave him a bath. This is the first dose he has ever received of this product.

Of recent, however, I’ve been hearing a lot of rumors stating that it causes seizures, death, etc.? He hasn’t been showing any symptoms. Is there anything I need to watch out for?

Thanks in advance.
