I heard that lemon and/or lime juice will kill fleas and prevent fleas and ticks on dogs, is this true? Also can you share the recipe? Or whatever you do to naturally keep the bugs away? I also heard on beverly hills groomer that Artist uses lemon juice but I cannot remember what he said the recipe is. Can ya help?

Our dogs are inside dogs mostly. They don’t go to the dog park. They play at my relatives house in their yard with their dog to run offleash and their yard is treated for fleas.
I have had pulled 1 tick off them in their whole 2 years.
Anyways we are having a baby and I don’t want to risk a flea infestation.
So in the spring I’m thinking of putting them on a flea/tick preventative
Though I hate putting those chemicals on my dogs, especially since one gets a bad rash when we use them.
So what type would you recommend, since its been so long I’m not sure whats out there?
Or what are some natural ways to prevent fleas and ticks we could try?
ADD: Anything but Advantage Multi. Our vet doesn’t recommend it because its too risky if its not applied just right they might not get the heartworm preventative they need. And being in the south Heartworm preventative is very important. So we have them on a monthly heartworm pill

The vet told my grandpa that when a dog wears a flea and tick collar and sheds, the hair has the chemicals in it and will kill fleas and ticks on the ground, not just on the dog.
My grandpa did not believe this.
My grandparents had built their house on land that was very tick infested. After about a year of using the flea and tick collar on the dogs-2 weeny dogs, they no longer had a tick problem on their land.
So the vet was right and the collars are wonderful.

We bought a flea n tick spray to kill the nasty parasites but only a few of them fell of or died, i am really worried about them i even pulled some of them out (i had gloves on) and burned them or stepped on them and it left behind red pimple like marks and blood….would it be a good idea i shaved all their fur off because of the fleas and ticks? They barely got infected with fleas and ticks last week thats when i bought the spray for them
And incase it matters they are both female dogs and both about 2 years old and one is a small dog and the other is a medium sized dog
